Wraithguard: Expensive, and prone to shuffle around aimlessly unless you put a Warlock with them, but their Wraithcannons are absolutely devastating. Load them up in a Wave Serpent to get hem into firing range quickly.ĭire Avengers: Great "line" troops who have a good armor save, a good medium range gun, and good all-around stats. Get into combat quickly though, they don't stand up well against concentraed fire.įire Dragons: Use these troops if you need to deal with tanks or heavily-armored troops at close range. Their attacks ignore armor saves, so they're really effective against expensive, heavy troops. Howling Banshees: Use these ladies if you're going up against armies like Space Marines, Necrons, or Tau. Use them to infiltrate onto your enemy's flank and get them into combat as soon as you can, which is fairly easy concerning the new rules for 40K.
Striking Scorpoins: Your all-around Close-combat specialists. I'll now elaborate on how to use the Aspect Warriors. They look freaking awesome, and the Wave Serpent is the best transport in the game. If you learn how to use them well, you can beat any army type. So, I'm going to ask my fellow Escapists if you can give me any advice on which army to use, though I also plan on asking the GW employees next time I head over there.ĮDIT: I was in a hurry to post, so I didn't elaborate.Įldar are a hard army to start with, but if you learn to use them well, they are practically unbeatable. The attraction of commanding a truly Human army is very hard to resist, let alone the idea of a Baneblade. This fact has me leaning towards them as my army because of sheer learning curve of the other. The Imperial Guard seem to be the simpler of the two. Even with the learning curve the Space Elves look like a lot of fun if I can use them right. This aspect though intimating me has intrigued me because it would require careful planning and use of my armies in a battle. The Eldar look like a much harder army to play and master because of the specific use of their units. I want to play either the Imperial Guard or the Eldar because I find myself interested in them both greatly for different reasons. I've looked into all the armies and I've reach a crossroads. A friend of mine has been pressuring me lately to get involved with the Tabletop version of WH40K after playing Dawn of War together a great deal.
